Project chanology

See Who Is Anonymous

Project Chanology is an ongoing protest by various internet based groups such as gaia online, myspace and digg - under the collective banner of "Anonymous" against the Church of Scientology in its current form. We oppose:

  • Its tax-exempt status, where it has managed to achieve one.
  • Its practice of charging ridiculous amounts (in excess of $400 per hour) for "services" provided to members.
  • Its attempts at censorship.
  • Its attempts to use copyright law to prevent the distribution without charge of its "religious" materials.
  • Its harassment of its critics.

How can I join the global movement?

The movement is known as project chanology. The main focus of the movement started off with hacking the Scientology websites to bring them down (tools used are available at the Project Chanology wiki) and was centered around the many *Chan websites, affiliated IRC channels and the Wiki at the Official Chanology wiki (this is a mirror if the other site is down), but has moved to the official protest forums, here. You can use these forums to get in contact with fellow protesters from around the globe. You can also check out the Anonymous Directory to find an Anonymous chapter in your area.

How do I join a protest in Perth/Australia

You can contact fellow anonymous on IRC. For those of you familiar with IRC, and who have your own client installed, use the server irc://irc.synirc.net for #perthraid and #perth (general chatter/faggotry). Use the server irc://irc.newnet.net for #ausraid

A web-based client for #perth and #perthraid can be found here.

How do I join a protest in the rest of Australia

There are australia-specific forums up here. And our own partyvan here.

Who Can I Expect to Take Photo's of Me?

A list of some of the OSA/$cientology members who have been appearing at each Perth protest and taking photo's of Anon's is under Perth $cilons. This list doesn't contain names because name fagging is utter fail. But it does contain links to what the $cilons look like, and what they usually wear/bring to a protest. There is no need to fear these people, but just be aware that they will take your photo (even if your masked) so you should be wary of them. Wear a suitable disguise at all times if you wish to remain truly anonymous, and never take off your masks around one of these people unless you wish to be identified.

If you decide to protest

For some of you, this might seem like a harmless opportunity to go out and belair/rick roll Scientology. Whatever. Unfortunately Scientology takes US very seriously. You WILL be photographed and videoed by Scientologists for the entire duration of the protest. They might try and start fights. They might try and follow you home. DO NOT LET THEM KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. In the past there were admittedly far fewer protesters, but when identified, some people had:

  • People spreading vicious lies about them to their neighbours (think along the lines of "Mr. xxx is a pedophile" sort of lie)
  • Suspicious people confronting them at their homes and following them around.

Some relevant information:

So for your own safety:

  • It might sound paranoid, but try as far as possible to remain anonymous. Wear some sort of disguise
  • Do NOT gather with fellow anonymous members afterwards for some sort of celebration
  • Do NOT divulge personal information to fellow anonymous
  • Do use memes to check if someone is really a proper member of Anonymous
  • Check to see if you're being followed on the way home, there were reports of people being followed after rallies over on the east coast
